" When was it started? It started off one day when Zorro created the channel and invited me
in.... it got a bit lonely in there with just the two of us so we invited a few ppl from #england
but not with the intension of stealing ppl from another channel, just that the ppl we invited we
knew anyway. As time went on Zorro and I decided between us that this channel might
actually work and that ppl were starting to like being in there. Since Zorro didn't have much
time to spend on irc we both agreed that I would act as channel man. So I went about
getting some names for the registration form. Some of these ppl have either departed of
changed nicks... I'll never know, but I'm sure some of those nicks are familiar to some of us
"old timers".
I can't remember exactly who was around in the beginning, I'm sure they know who they
are.... but I am very grateful for the help they provided in keeping the channel open and under
control all those long days before the arrival of W. Later on I was introduced to Nexx and
now look what's happened to the channel! :) It's got all flooded with bots which sometimes
used to outnumber the customers, however, since my going away to university, I must say
that the channel has survived well and now the bots are a minority. :)
I've had the usual ups and downs in the beginning of trying to run a channel, such as ppl constantly pestering me for ops and others just constantly misbehaving and needing some of DEZ's boot polish. :)
I'm glad that the #pub's there since most of the other channels are just not really my style, being either too heavy going or just not really very interesting and I know I'm not alone in this way of thinking, so hopefully I've created a channel where people can be safe from the usual verbal abuse and smut that is rife among the 'net culture'.
I would have loved to write a #pub homepage but unfortunately I don't have the disk space, so when I was approached by Guru and Nexx, I was pleasantly suprised. I'm quite impressed by the number of people who are willing to help out. What more can I say but keep up the good work! "

Aarn
